Advisory from Eastern Health on public screening and access to facilities

gmcneil COVID-19 Announcements

The following advisory from Eastern Health contains important information for CUPE members and families in the Eastern Health district

Eastern Health advises the public that facilities within the region will begin to reduce the number of entry points, or entrances, into its facilities in an effort to manage and screen individuals upon entry. Individuals entering health-care facilities can expect to be screened for COVID-19 through a series of questions.

Eastern Health is also decreasing the number of hours that building entrances will be open, and encourages the public to check with relevant facilities before arriving to confirm hours of operation. Signage will be posted at the entrances of affected facilities displaying hours of operation, and employees reporting for work should be prepared to display their employee identification badge at building entrances.

In addition, some administrative offices, including the Business Office and Health Information Services & Informatics (HISI) offices at Mount Pearl Square, are closed to the public. Visitors to these buildings are asked to follow on-site signage outlining alternate arrangements for services. Further information will be provided, as required.

Business Office: Visitors should use the reception drop slot to drop-off mail. Payments can be made online at https://payments.easternhealth.ca or via telephone (709-777-1480 and press option 1), or via cheque (Accounts Receivable, 760 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, NL A1N 3J5). Receipts will be mailed to individuals via Canada Post.

Health Information Services & Informatics (HISI): Visitors should use the reception drop slot at the Mount Pearl Square Business Office to drop off release of information (ROI) requests for city sites only. ROI requests can also be e-mailed to releaseofinformation@easternhealth.ca or mailed to Release of Information, Room 102H, 760 Topsail Road, Mount Pearl, A1N 3J5. Once medical information is prepared, it can be returned to individuals via e-mail or mail. For questions about ROI requests, please call 709-752-3974. Payments for medical information can be made over the phone (credit card) or by mail (money order or cheque). Please call (709) 752-3974 for payment details.

Eastern Health reminds the public of the following:

  • Urgent/emergent appointments at outpatient clinics are continuing across the region. Patients will be contacted if their appointment is going ahead, otherwise they will be contacted at a later date when the appointment is rescheduled.
  • Cancer Care program appointments are proceeding for most patients. If there is a change to a scheduled appointment, the patient will be notified.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, and if you have internet access or know someone who can access the internet on your behalf, please complete the online self-assessment at www.811healthline.ca before calling 811.

If you require information about COVID-19, please go to https://www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/.

Eastern Health is working to make alternate arrangements across the organization for patients and clients, and would like to thank the public for their co-operation during this time.
